In 2012, Barack Obama won the presidential election with a record low number of counties – he won only 22% of the counties in America. But he won the election, with 66 million votes. Joe Biden beat both of those totals – he got 81 million votes (15 million more votes than the popular, historic Obama – that’s incredible – golly Mr. Biden must be an inspiring figure…), while breaking Obama’s record of fewest counties won in a winning presidential campaign – Biden won only 16.7% of counties (509 counties, out of the 3,006 counties in America). Which is why the election map looks like a blowout win for Trump, when he actually lost.
Even in overwhelmingly Democrat states, a majority of the counties voted Republican. But check out Texas. Texas has 254 counties, 22 of whom voted Democrat. Texas voted Republican as a state, but by a very thin margin – 52%. So 91% of the counties in Texas voted Republican, but as a state, Texas voted Republican by a 52% margin. Yikes.
None of this matters, of course. Land doesn’t vote – people do. So counties with more people in them have more influence. Naturally. But my concern is that suppose, hypothetically of course, that the Democrats sought to cheat in an election. How do you cheat in an election of a country as massive as The United States? Well, you don’t have to. Just pick a few counties here and there. Ignore the rural counties – not enough votes there to be worth the effort. And ignore most of the big cities – those are in the bag for Democrats already. Now you’ve narrowed it down from 3,006 counties to maybe one or two hundred. Be selective and strategic, and you can win the presidency with only 16.7% of the counties, and you only have to cheat in a select number of those. That becomes manageable. Hypothetically, of course.
We are very close to the point Wilson and FDR dreamed of – where elections don’t matter anymore, and government becomes a self-sustaining bureaucracy, largely independent from control of the great unwashed. Our Constitution was written to protect the citizens from their government. And the Democrats continue to find more and more ways around it. Now that they’ve moved from building an unaccountable bureaucracy to seeking to control elections, this is getting scary.
What could possibly go wrong?
Was the last election legitimate? I’m not sure.
But I’ve come to the realization that it is indeed possible for Democrats to exert significant control over national elections. Once this is set up, and government can select its own leaders with less interference from American citizens, it will be very, very difficult to dismantle.
And we’re close to that point. We may have already passed it – I’m not sure.
But after the last election, we know at the very least that the Democrats tried to cheat. In my view, it’s not clear they succeeded. But it’s obvious that they tried.
And if you look at an election map, you can see how it’s possible that they could succeed. Again, I don’t think it’s obvious that they did succeed, but it’s obvious that they could. It’s doable, if they focus their resources. Which they obviously did.
Despite winning 83% of America’s counties, Republican voters are scared to death – completely freaked out.
This is why.
Perhaps this is not yet over. But I understand the panic. This looks terrifying…
