MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Wood Brothers Racing has assumed full control of the NASCAR Cup Series charter it previously co-owned with Archie St. Hilaire of Go Fas Racing.
The team confirmed the news in a brief statement released Wednesday afternoon.
“Wood Brothers Racing has purchased the remaining interests in GGRWB, LLC, (the) holder of (the) NASCAR Charter the No. 21 Ford Mustang has used since 2017,” the statement read. “We look forward to 2021 and want to thank Archie for being such a great partner.”
Wood Brothers Racing returned to full-time NASCAR Cup Series action in 2016 as an open competition (unchartered) team, one year before Go Fas Racing leased its initial charter at the time to the venerable organization.
The team, led by Leonard, Eddie and Len Wood, has operated using its current charter since partnering with St. Hilaire at the start of the 2017 Cup campaign.
Blaney drove for the team through the end of the ’17 season, when Paul Menard took over the seat for the next two years. Matt DiBenedetto was hired as the team’s newest driver this year and is signed to compete full time with the team again next year.
