Remedy Entertainment has announced the release dates for the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X versions of Control Ultimate Edition, as well as showing off the game's new Performance and Graphics modes. The original version of Control was one of the best-looking games of the previous console generation, which is why fans were excited to see it running on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X hardware.

It was disappointing to learn that the only way to experience the upgraded version of Control was to buy it again. Remedy announced that the next-gen upgrades for Control were exclusive to the new Control Ultimate Edition version of the game. This meant that people who supported the game from day one had to fork out more cash if they wanted the superior console experience. The situation became worse when the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X versions of Control Ultimate Edition were delayed out of the launch windows of the consoles. The game has since been on sale several times, so people who purchased Control Ultimate Edition on day one for full price got screwed.

The official Control Twitter page has announced the release dates for the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X versions of the game. Control Ultimate Edition will be available digitally on February 2, 2021, while the physical version of the game will be distributed on March 2, 2021. The people who purchased the PS4 or Xbox One versions of the game will automatically receive the upgraded version of Control Ultimate Edition for free. It bears mentioning that the version of Control in Xbox Game Pass is the older version of the game, and it won't be upgraded.

Control Ultimate Edition has gone the Spider-Man: Miles Morales route and will have two modes. The Performance Mode will run at 60fps, even on Xbox Series S, while the Graphics mode will include ray-tracing, but the frame rate will drop to 30fps.

Control was a stunning looking game, but it had issues running on the base PS4 and Xbox One at launch. It was a game that tested the limits of its hardware, and we can't wait to experience Control Ultimate Edition in all of its glory on current-gen systems when it finally launches in 2021.
