Syracuse, N.Y. – A Syracuse man was arrested outside a strip club in the city early Sunday morning after firing shots into a crowd of about 200 people, police said.
Shockingly, no one in the crowd near Lookers Showclub on North Salina Street reported injuries, but bullets hit two cars, said Det. George Hack of the Syracuse Police Department.
Devonaire King, 24, was arrested after officers responding to a call for shots fired in the area at about 3:45 a.m. heard more gunshots and saw King firing a weapon into the crowd, Hack said. After taking him into custody, officers said they found a loaded handgun.
Hack wasn’t sure why the crowd had gathered outside but said he understands it to be “a regular occurrence for that establishment.”
King was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second and third degrees, criminal possession of a firearm and various charges related to possession of controlled substances. He’s also accused of violating parole, according to county records. King is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center.
Hack said the investigation is ongoing and asks that anyone with information contact the Syracuse Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 315-442-5222.
