Philadelphia police vehicles was vandalized while officers were still inside them as dirt bike riders and a “large crowd” outside of Rivers Casino surrounded them early Sunday morning.

According to a report from NBC10, police responded shortly after 2 a.m. to Rivers Casino Philadelphia at 1001 N. Delaware Ave. in the Fishtown area of the city.

When police arrived at the scene, several dirt bike riders were performing doughnuts, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Police say they attempted to disperse the crowd using overhead lights and horn because the entry and exit routes to the parking lot of the casino were blocked. However, an “aggressive” crowd jumped on the officer’s vehicle and banged on his windows, according to police.

As additional officers entered the crowd with their vehicles to provide assistance, the crowds began pounding on that police vehicle and flattened its tires, authorities say.

When more police arrived on the scene, the crowd dispersed.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police say a similar incident occurred at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday on the 400 block of North 5th Street in Spring Garden. That also caused damage to a police vehicle.
