[Photo by Wes Partin / Partin Aerial] The Concord Country Jubilee has already filled all its vendor slots and has a waiting list, meaning this year could be the largest Jubilee in its 49 year history. The Jubilee will be held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15-16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days with the parade set for 2 p.m. Saturday.

This year could be the largest Concord Country Jubilee in the event’s 49 year history as vendor spaces have already been filled and a waiting list created.

This year’s Jubilee will include plenty of family fun, festival foods and live entertainment Oct. 15-16 in downtown Concord.

The parade will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 and members of the community are asked to join in to help celebrate the county’s 200th anniversary.

“We encourage participation in the parade this year to highlight the Bicentennial,” said Neath. “The parade route travels along Highway 18 from west to east, ending on Roberts Quarters Road. Lineup is at 1:30 p.m. on Hill Street, College Street and Strickland Road.”

“If you would like to participate, please email deputyclerk.concord@gmail.com to request an application.”

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office Color Guard will lead the parade followed by the Pike County High School Marching Band, Pike County Fire Department, the Pike County Tractor Club and other participants.  The Grand Marshal for this year’s parade is Bettye (Strickland) Rumble.

“Live music will be in the pavilion again this year. Harold Kirkland of Hollonville Opry House again graciously accepted the task of scheduling and we have many talented musicians lined up,” said Neath.

Live musical enterainment on Saturday, Oct. 15 will include Don and Robin at 10:30 a.m., Kirkland and Friends at 11:30 a.m., River’s Edge at 12:30 p.m. and the Coleman Family at 3 p.m. after the 2 p.m. parade. Sunday’s schedule will include a 9 a.m. church service, the Jay Max McKee Band at 10:30 a.m., New Creation at 12:30 p.m., Fairlanes at 1:30 p.m., Audrey Hanson at 2:30 p.m. and the Pike County Junior Players at 3:30 p.m.

There will be many new vendors this year as well as favorites from years past. In fact, so many vendor applications were filed that the spaces all filled up and a waiting list was created.

“The vendor response this year has been astounding,” said deputy city clerk Anita Neath. “Returning vendors include The Pony Patch, Bloomin’ Onion, Pike County Pirate Regiment Marching Band, Bush Chapel and Sharon’s Gourmet Soaps and Candles just to name just a few and new vendors include Meredith Sorrow and Donnie Anderson with their copper jewelry, Jeff Thomas with his intriguing wood products, and Mae Chan’s Egg Rolls.”

Parking will be more of a challenge than usual since the main field used for parking has a newly constructed Family Dollar / Dollar Tree store.

“Please pay attention to designated parking areas,” said Neath. “Public parking will be in the field off of Roseview Drive and Harris Street. Be patient, wear a smile and your most comfortable shoes because the Jubilee is big this year!”
