Apparently, already bored with Ball State, the Penn State fans were looking to facing the Auburn Tigers.
With a road win over a ranked Wisconsin team and now a 44-13 rout over Ball State on Saturday, Nittany Lions fans are ready for a little Big Ten vs. SEC battle with the 2-0 Tigers.
ESPN announced Saturday that “College GameDay” will broadcast live from State College, Penn., ahead of the top-25 nonconference showdown between No. 25 Auburn (2-0) and No. 11 Penn State.
Sean Clifford completed 21 of 29 passes for 230 yards, ran for a touchdown and threw for another on an afternoon that saw seven different players contribute scoring plays and 14 more touch the ball for an offense that rang up 493 total yards.
Running back Noah Cain added a rushing touchdown and wide receiver Jahan Dotson added another, linebacker Jesse Luketa returned an interception 16 yards for a touchdown, and Jordan Stout kicked three field goals for the Nittany Lions (2-0).
Backup quarterback Ta-Quan Roberson added a 23-yard touchdown pass to Theo Johnson to cap Penn State’s sixth straight win dating to last season.
Penn State scored on four of five first-half possessions and led 24-6 at halftime.
Meanwhile, the Tigers have outscored Akron and Alabama State by a combined score of 122-10.
The Tigers and Nittany Lions will square off from Beaver Stadium at 6:30 p.m. CT next Saturday, with the game airing on ABC. It will be the first meeting between the two schools since Jan. 1, 2003, when they met in Orlando, Fla., for the Capital One Bowl at the end of the 2002 season.
