(July 29, 2021) If you were a patron of Ron and Colleen Suhanosky’s Sfoglia restaurant, on either Nantucket or Manhattan’s Upper East Side or both, you probably have very fond memories of its delicious and rustic Italian food.

Sfoglia’s heyday was in the first decade or so of this millennium and the Suhanosky’s cookbook “Pasta Sfoglia” (John Wiley & Sons, 2009), written in collaboration with Susan Simon, garnered a James Beard Award for the best single-subject cookbook in 2010. I gave the book as a gift to several friends who enjoy cooking.

What I did not know until last week was that Ron Suhanosky had authored a second cookbook entitled “The Italian Table” (Kyle Books, 2011).

Serendipitously, I happened to be dropping off donations (that were not cookbooks) at the Cape Cod Hospital Thrift Shop, and noticed that the shop was running a daily special of $1 for any cookbook on its shelves. Needless to say, I couldn’t resist taking a peek and much to my delight came across Suhanosky’s “The Italian Table.”
