We already knew the Cardinals won't have fans attend their first two home games and that their first road game is also going to be fanless in San Francisco. The Cards have been practicing with simulated crowd noise throughout camp, anticipating something similar at games without fans.
The NFL confirmed that plan Tuesday, when NFL executive VP of football operations Troy Vincent said during a conference call the league is finalizing the rules for the faux noise at games. There will be a discussion about not only the crowd noise but other audio used during games among the competition committee, but the NFL does have a curated "crowd" and will set the rules for decibel levels.
Games that actually have fans won't have the simulated crowd noise, it seems, which will make it interesting to see what the noise level will be allowed to be. A stadium at 20 percent capacity isn't going to be nearly as loud as a "normal" NFL game.
Then again, any game in 2020 will be anything but normal.
"Every since Pee-Wee (football) there's been a lot of fans at (my) games," quarterback Kyler Murray said. "This will be different. This will be very different."
