Players now have access to the second expansion for Control and are finally able to connect the dots between Control and Remedy's past game Alan Wake. There are hints throughout Control that have also connected the two games together that manifest in different collectibles. None of these hints are incredibly obvious, but for big fans of Alan Wake these collectibles will probably stand out.
Most players probably assumed that the Alan Wake references in Control were just fun little easter eggs that were referencing a cult classic video game. No one would have ever thought that Alan Wake would actually brought into the official canon of Control, but now players are tasked with dealing with the fallout from Alan Wake's Bright Falls. Starting the new DLC though isn't extremely straightforward, so this guide is here to show players how to begin playing it.
Control: How to Play AWE DLC
The biggest upside to getting the AWE DLC is that players don't have to beat the main game or the other expansion that was released before. Players will be able to access AWE relatively early in the game. The first step to accessing the expansion is to complete the seventh mission in the game The Face of the Enemy. Once this mission has been completed, players will be assigned a brand new side mission called A Dark Place that tasks them with exploring the sector elevator.
The sector elevator is pretty easy to gain access to as it is in the main hub world area. Players will just need to travel to the Central Executive Control Point. Once here, players will see a nearby hallway that is marked with an elevator sign that should lead players straight up to the elevator. Once players get close to the elevator they will begin hearing a voice speak to them before they are able to enter it. From there they can travel to the Investigations Section of the world in order to start the AWE expansion.
This expansion isn't extremely long, but it gives players a few hours of content to check out. Once again the most interesting part of this expansion though is the ability to connect dots straight from decade-old supernatural thriller Alan Wake to the much more modern action-oriented Control.
Control can be played on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
