  • Xiaomi is working on a Device Control app to let you control your phone on your PC.
  • The app is currently available on the Mi 10 Ultra running the latest MIUI 12 beta firmware.

We’ve seen several companies offer smartphone/PC integration in recent years, with Huawei offering Huawei Share functionality while Samsung and Microsoft deliver tighter integration via the Your Phone app.

Now, it looks like it’s Xiaomi’s turn to deliver a similar feature as XDA-Developers spotted and confirmed a so-called Device Control app in the latest MIUI 12 beta for the Mi 10 Ultra.

Much like the ability for users to control their Samsung phones on Windows via the Your Phone app, the Xiaomi Device Control app lets you essentially control your phone from a compatible PC. More specifically, the app’s ‘Screen Combo’ feature lets you broadcast your smartphone screen on your PC via Wi-Fi, while also letting you transfer files in this manner using drag-and-drop actions. It’s also believed that you can also launch multiple windows of your phone’s screen in order to run several apps on your PC. So those wanting to use a messaging app and a food delivery app at the same time could do so in theory.

XDA reports that the app and functionality is currently limited to the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra and the Mi Notebook Pro 15 2020 laptop but expects support for more devices in the future. The outlet also reports that the app should launch next month with a stable release in October. Either way, here’s hoping we see a brand-agnostic solution soon, as manufacturer-exclusive mobile/PC integration can be rather annoying.
