Eatbeat: IHOP a hit with breakfast crowd - Grand Forks Herald

seliranga.blogspot.com

Not everyone, but more than half of the customers, were wearing masks when I made a Sunday brunch stop at IHOP. There was a wait to be seated, but it was well handled. Customers were sitting outside on benches. Some were strolling around. Others were seated in the reception area, where Tami Smith, an area director, was welcoming guests and directing traffic.

Though it seems to be all about breakfast, IHOP’s menu shows lunch, salads and dinner choices as well as offerings for customers 55 and older. Twelve pancake offerings range from the original buttermilk version to strawberry banana and chocolate-chocolate chip. Omelettes, French toast and waffles are featured.

In these days, the coronavirus precautions allow only half of the tables in the main dining area to be open. That limits the seating to 80. The hospitality at the door makes up for the wait during busy periods.

With the extensive choices, the offerings seemed to please children in the Sunday family gatherings. The windows all around make the restaurant light and bright.

The staff at IHOP seems confident and efficient in these times of the coronovirus invasion. My server was Lynelle Hedde, who recognizes customers and is calm and efficient. The well-organized service draws customers back.

Omelettes include one called Bacon Temptation. There’s spinach and mushroom and a listing for customers who want to build their own.

The calorie count is listed – whether or not every customer wants to know.

Other entrees include sirloin steak tips, buttermilk crispy chicken, grilled tilapia, turkey breast, chicken strips and fries.

IHOP is offering curbside delivery, according to Tami Smith, an area director. And there are arrangements for deliveries by Door Dash and Uber Eats.
