BELTON, Texas (KWTX) A local police officer and Department of Public Safety troopers who were at the scene of an 18-wheeler crash Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 35 barely managed to get out of the way as a second 18-wheeler careened off the highway and headed right for them.
The officers had to sprint to get out of the path of the oncoming 18-wheeler. (Belton Police Dept.)
The terrifying moment was recorded by the dashcams in two parked law enforcement units.
The three officers responded to the first crash just before 2 p.m. Tuesday on the southbound highway just south of Holland Road after a driver lost control of the rig, which crossed a median and two lanes of access road before coming to rest on the side of the road.
About 45 minutes later, at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, as the three were investigating the first accident the second 18-wheeler careened off the highway.
No one was hurt.
