Erproductions Ltd / Getty ImageA 67-year-old man who police said was attacked by a crowd Friday night in downtown San Francisco is currently in stable condition.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was stabbed at Seventh and Market streets shortly before 11:30 p.m., in the midst of a fight between several people, Police Department spokesperson Allison Maxie said.
An officer saw a mob descend upon the man and stepped up to intervene, at which point the assailants scattered, police officials said. Officers from Tenderloin Station arrived to help, accompanied by paramedics who took the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening wounds.
Later, police updated his condition to stable. As of Monday morning police were investigating the violent incident and had made no arrests. They ask anyone with information to call San Francisco Police Department at 415-575-4444 or to text TIP411.
