CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State took control early and took home an 89-36 win over Southern U in front of a Beavers Beyond the Classroom record of 8,000 students from 71 schools.

Five Beavers scored in double figures for the first time since Feb. 28, 2021 against Oregon and every Beav who played scored at least three points. Nine OSU players had at least one assist and the Beavs assisted on 26 of 30 field goals. Defensively, the Beavs held their opponent under 40 points for the first time since a 65-34 win over BYU on Dec. 19, 2019

Talia von Oelhoffen and AJ Marotte led the scorers with 15 each, followed by 14 from Raegan Beers and 10 each from Martha Pietsch and Jelena Mitrovic. The 6-foot-9 Serbian also grabbed 14 rebounds for her fifth career double-double while dishing six assists.

After a back-and-forth first five minutes resulted in a 10-10 tie, OSU took control with a 14-3 run to close the first quarter. The Beavs got their 14 points from four different players with Pietsch, Marotte and Lily Hansford each splashing a three while Raegan Beers scored five points.

Oregon State put the game firmly out of reach in the second quarter, using a 14-0 run to go up 45-18. OSU held the Jaguars scoreless for more than three minutes while von Oelhoffen and Shalexxus Aaron put six and four points on the board respectively. The Beavs entered the half with a 45-21 advantage.

The Beavs used the three-pointer to close the game out. Oregon State made 7-of-11 shots from downtown in the final 20 minutes to close the game shooting 65.2 percent (15-23) from long distance. OSU is one of just three teams in the country this season to shoot at least 65 percent on 20+ three-point attempts.

Beers led OSU with nine points and six rebounds in the second half. Adlee Blacklock, Mitrovic and von Oelhoffen each contributed six as the Beavs pulled away by outscoring Southern 44-17 in the second half.

Up next, the Beavs welcome Jackson State to Gill Coliseum for their first televised home game of the season. The game is slated for a 12:06 p.m. tip on Pac-12 Networks.
