After the welcome remarks, Astley handed the mic off to Sivan for a special musical performance. Phones quickly emerged from the crowd, eager to capture the intimate concert. Following the performance—and in his own witty recognition of the night’s assembled talents—Sivan quipped, “If everything turns to shit, I’m gonna go run errands for Pamela Shamshiri.”
Later, he expanded on his collaboration with the AD100 firm and Lenovo. “[Studio Shamshiri is] one of my favorite design studios, and they’ve brought such life to the installation.” As for using the Lenovo Yoga laptop to develop their ideas, Sivan adds, “It’s such a fluid piece of tech, and in my creative process, it’s important that I feel nimble enough to make notes and get ideas down as they come—and the Yoga is perfect for this.”

AD senior design editor Hannah Martin dished on upcoming projects with AD100 designers Teo Yang and Virginia Tupker, as did AD global digital director David Kaufman with AD50 Middle East honoree Shaikha Al-Sulaiti and Venus Williams of V Starr. Those who had gotten a peek at Design Miami earlier in the day were eager to discuss favorites. Designer Rodman Primack hyped Fabien Cappello’s colorful tiled table in the AGO Projects booth, while others obsessed over the historic pieces from decorator John Dickinson’s iconic Firehouse in San Francisco, on view in Converso’s booth.
As the evening’s festivities came to an end, guests bid adieu, looking forward to the jam-packed design days still ahead in Miami. “The AD100 crowd was practically giddy to be back in the social mix and see so many colleagues at the AD party and at Design Miami,” Astley says. “Spirits were high, and everyone was happy—and put in the effort to dress sharply!” The fixings for a memorable good time, indeed.
