YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The city’s Board of Control on Thursday approved entering into a memorandum of understanding with Desmone, a Pittsburgh-based architectural firm that wants to facilitate redevelopment of 20 Federal Place.
The city has worked with the group since the summer, and representatives on Nov. 18 presented their plans for the building before Council’s community planning and economic development committee. These plans include developing a rooftop restaurant, observation deck, apartments and office space.
City Council approved enabling legislation during its meeting Wednesday evening.
Earlier this year, the city hosted tours of the building, attracting potential developers from as far as New York. The city has retained Steadfast City Economic & Community Partners, St. Louis, as a consultant on the project.
The Board of Control, which consists of Mayor Tito Brown, Finance Director Kyle Miasek, and Law Director Jeff Limbian, also approved a payment of $10,000 to Youngstown CityScape to cover the cost of holiday lights downtown.
