Google Chromecast just got its biggest update with the debut of its new Chromecast with Google TV, which introduces an operating system and support for its upcoming remote control with Assistant AI capabilities. Although some retailers began selling the new player ahead of launch, Google confirmed the product at its recent Launch Night event.
With a design similar to the Chromecast Ultra, the new Chromecast is powered by a new processor that allows it to run 4K HDR at up to 60 frames per second and support the new interface. It is compatible with Dolby Vision content for further color, contrast, and brightness options as well as surround sound capabilities.
The new remote has a built-in speaker with a four-way navigation pad and Back, Assistant, Home, Mute, Power, Input keys. There are also dedicated buttons for YouTube and Netflix because they’re the most popular streaming services among users, according to Google. The built-om Assistant can take voice commands to play songs on Spotify, change lighting, or play certain shows.
The new Chromecast with Google TV is available from Google, Best Buy, and Walmart for $49.99 USD.
