Knicks point guard Derrick Rose doesn't have a problem with Hawks star Trae Young shushing the crowd at Madison Square Garden following Sunday's playoff game.
"The crowd is supposed to do that. His reaction is supposed to be that way and he's supposed to amp up and bring the atmosphere of the environment to where it is right now. That's what I'm used to," Rose said.
"The league got so soft but that's basketball. (Young) came in, he played a great game," he said.
Throughout the night, the crowd of 15,047 chanted "F--- Trae Young" throughout the series opener. Young responded with a 32-point, 10-assist, seven-rebound performance, including 13 points in the fourth quarter. He capped it off byknocking down a floater with 0.9 seconds left, spoiling the Knicks' first playoff game in eight years. Atlanta won 107-105.
Immediately after nailing the final shot, Young put a finger to his mouth and shushed the crowd.
Following the game, Young said he considers Knicks fan's cursing and boos "a compliment."
A hostile crowd is something Rose can relate to, adding that he has played in arenas where people have poured beer on his mom.
"Now it's a little different ... If you want to talk shit, talk shit. It's alright," he said. "But the next game the environment is going to be tougher and that environment is going to be a great atmosphere for some great basketball."
The Knicks and Hawks will meet again for Game 2 of the first-round playoff series on Wednesday night.
