When Trump says Chicago is ‘out of control,’ he does not exaggerate - Chicago Sun-Times

In an editorial on Wednesday, the Sun-Times writes that President Trump is “stoking fears about out-of-control crime by thugs and radicals in Chicago and other big cities.” If the Sun-Times editorial board does not believe this is real, the board is delusional.

Fifteen people were shot Tuesday night at a funeral wake. Overnight, another child was shot. More than 400 people have been murdered in Chicago to date. Michigan Avenue businesses have been smashed and looted. Sixty-two people, by the Sun-Times’ own reporting, have been shot on the city’s expressways so far this year, compared to 52 for all of last year.

Almost 50 Chicago police officer were injured, including 18 who were hospitalized, after a so-called “peaceful” protest at the Columbus statue in Grant Park. Average citizens are buying up guns like crazy. And between the impact of crime and COVID-19, some 2,400 Chicago businesses will never reopen.

That’s not out-of-control?

Regardless of how you might feel about Trump, if the federal government wants to send resources to Chicago to help alleviate and correct these problems — to arrest, prosecute and jail some of these violent offenders — the city should accept them with open arms.

A cop on every corner

A cop on every corner in Chicago would be an appropriate police response right now, and very necessary. While our governor and mayor focus on politics, President Trump is offering help to our city. Fifteen people were shot at a funeral on Tuesday. How can anyone disagree that we need a huge influx of law enforcement personnel to regain control of our city and help the local police.
