Here are the questions we’re answering today:

Is Ohio’s alarming coronavirus surge continuing? The numbers are back up. Ohio reported 1,277 new coronavirus cases Wednesday, with 890 people currently hospitalized, up from 851 day the day before. The seven-day moving average of 1,045 hit a record high.

Why did a member of the Cleveland design review advisory committee quit in protest? A city board approved a house in North Collinwood over the objections of many neighborhood residents who felt it would look garish among the more modest neighboring working-class homes.

Did the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame cancel the Cleveland inductions scheduled for November? The Rock Hall officially canceled the induction ceremony, which already had been pushed back because of the coronavirus. This year’s event will be replaced by an HBO special that will air Nov. 7, and the 2021 ceremony will take place in Cleveland.

Why is the Ohio Supreme Court taking a look at a kindergartener who was bullied in Toledo? The case is a big deal because the Toledo Public School District could lose its immunity from liability if the court agrees with the child’s attorney that administrators were reckless to a child during her “tender years.”

What do we know about the inmate who died this week in the Cuyahoga County Jail? The man in his 50s was the first death at the troubled jail in 14 months.

How is the Ohio Lottery making ends meet during the coronavirus pandemic, when so many people have stayed home and could not play Keno in bars? Scratch-off tickets! The scratch-off tickets became so popular that they sales helped overcome lottery losses from the temporary closings of bars, where Keno is often played, and the state’s seven racinos.

Why is the Ohio Historical Society trying to take over a golf course, and why is the Ohio Supreme Court interested? The historical society says the earthworks, built by the Hopewell Culture sometime between 100 B.C. and 500 A.D., can’t become a world heritage site if there’s a lease and a golf course on the property.

Why is Cuyahoga County breaking with long practice and keeping secret the name of the deputy sheriff suspected of shooting a bean bag at a man, blinding him in one eye? They’re blaming the Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
